Deep sea water collected from a depth of 350m off the coast of Rausu, Shiretoko, Hokkaido. The deep sea, where sunlight cannot reach, is an environment entirely different from surface seawater. Deep sea water is also characterized by its rich mineral content. KISSUI focused on the mineral balance of this sea water and considered how to utilize it as the foundation for skincare.

KISSUI employs a freeze-desalination method that adjusts the salt concentration to 0.3% or less, while preserving the mineral balance inherent in sea water. CHAPTER 01 / WHY THE DEEP SEA?

Why the deep sea? To the waters of Rausu, Shiretoko.

KISSUI focuses on deep sea water off the coast of Rausu, Shiretoko, Hokkaido. Collected from a depth of 350m, this water is rich in minerals. Harnessing water nurtured in the depths of the ocean as the base for skincare—that choice is the starting point for KISSUI's water production.

CHAPTER 02 / WHY DESALINATION?

Why not use it as is? "Refining" the sea water.

Sea water contains not only minerals but also salt. KISSUI aims to provide desalinated sea water with a salt concentration adjusted to 0.3% or less. We remove the salt while being mindful of the mineral balance contained in the deep sea water. Instead of using the water directly as collected, we refine it into water suitable as a skincare base. The process begins here.

CHAPTER 03 / FREEZE DESALINATION

Why freeze it? Patented "Freeze-Desalination Method."

KISSUI employs a freeze-desalination method. This technology separates ice from the salt-concentrated portion during the freezing process. We adjust the salt concentration to 0.3% or less while remaining conscious of the mineral balance, ensuring that most minerals are not lost alongside the salt. By leveraging the characteristics of deep sea water, we create desalinated water that serves as the base for our skincare. The technology to refine water supports every single drop.

CHAPTER 04 / THE ARTISAN'S EYE

In the freeze-desalination method, the step of identifying and separating the frozen part from the salt-concentrated part is crucial. While checking the state of the ice, we remove the highly salty portions. This utilizes the human eye—knowledgeable of the production process—and skilled craftsmanship. We don't just rely on technology; we assess every single condition. This accumulation supports KISSUI's water production.

Why 0.3%? Water for the skin.

KISSUI aims for desalinated sea water with a salt concentration of 0.3% or less. While the salt concentration of human body fluid is approximately 0.9%, by adjusting it to a lower concentration, we refine it into exquisite beauty water that seems to melt into the skin. We adjust the salt concentration while remaining mindful of the mineral balance in the deep sea water. The water-making process that began at sea leads to the single drop that supports KISSUI skincare.
