Deep sea water extracted from 350 meters below the surface off the coast of Rausu, Shiretoko, Hokkaido. In the deep sea, where sunlight does not reach, an environment unfolds that is distinct from surface seawater. One of the unique characteristics of deep sea water is its rich mineral content. Focusing on the mineral balance of this water, KISSUI sought to utilize it as the foundation for our skincare.

CHAPTER 01 / WHY THE DEEP SEA?

Why the deep sea? To the seas of Rausu, Shiretoko.

KISSUI focuses on deep sea water off the coast of Rausu, Shiretoko, Hokkaido. Collected from 350 meters deep, this water is rich in minerals. Using water nurtured in the depths of the ocean as the foundation for skincare—this choice is the starting point of KISSUI's water crafting.

CHAPTER 02 / WHY DESALINATION?

Why not use it as is? "Refining" the sea water.

Seawater contains salt along with minerals. KISSUI aims for desalinated seawater with a salt concentration of 0.3% or less. We remove the salt while carefully maintaining the mineral balance found in deep sea water. We don't just use the water we collect; we refine it into water worthy of being a skincare base. That process begins here.

CHAPTER 03 / FREEZE DESALINATION

Why freeze it? Patented "Freeze-Desalination Method."

KISSUI employs a freeze-desalination process. It is a technique that separates ice from the salt-concentrated portion as seawater freezes. We reduce the salt content to below 0.3% while carefully maintaining the mineral balance, ensuring that minerals are not lost along with the salt. In the freeze-desalination process, it is critical to discern and separate the frozen parts from the salt-concentrated parts. Checking the state of the ice and removing the brine—this process relies on the eyes and skilled craftsmanship of those who understand every step of the production. KISSUI aims for desalinated seawater with a salt concentration of 0.3% or less. While the human body's fluid concentration is approximately 0.9%, we adjust ours to a lower concentration to create a supreme beauty water that melts into the skin. By adjusting salt levels while maintaining the mineral balance, we transform the water that began in the sea into the single drop that supports KISSUI skincare.
